Decaf Brazil

This coffee from Brazil underwent its decaffination process using the Swiss Water Process. During this process, the green coffee is hydrated to expand the beans for caffeine extraction. The hydrated green is then introduced to Green Coffee Extract (GCE), a unique solution of concentrated coffee solubles that allows the caffeine to leave the beans via osmosis while minimizing the loss of desired flavor compounds. Once the caffeine has been removed the green coffee is re-dried and re-bagged for transport, and the GCE is filtered of its caffeine through proprietary carbon filters and recycled to be used again.

What we love about this process is:

1- no chemicals are used to decaffeinate and 2- by letting the beans soak in the GCE, their original aroma and flavor compounds are preserved and lead to a non-caffeinated but still delicious cup.

Our profile of Decaf Brazil is sweet drinking chocolate with savory nutty tones. It has a medium mouthfeel and will brew the perfect cup for those that love the flavor of coffee but not the caffeine.
