Come experience a thoughtfully crafted espresso drink, enjoy a house-made pastry, or explore our small food menu — all in a space designed to feel warm, open, and welcoming. Large storefront windows fill the café with natural light, highlighting a building rich in local history. From 1947 to 2021, this space was home to the Terravella family’s Jefferson Florist, a longtime neighborhood staple.
After seven years roasting in the Lower Ninth Ward, Cherry grew into the need for more room and found a new home on Lafayette Street in Old Gretna in March 2024. This location serves as both our café and the storefront to our working roastery, where we small-batch roast with care, intention, and dedication to craft. On roast days, you’ll smell coffee in the air before you even arrive—and inside, you can see the process firsthand, from burlap sacks of green coffee to freshly roasted beans.
At Cherry, education is at the heart of what we do. We love sharing our knowledge and inviting guests deeper into the world of coffee. Throughout the year, we host free public cuppings at our Lafayette Street location, where guests can taste coffees side by side and learn how origin and processing shape flavor—then take home a bag of the coffee they connect with most.
